Description:
This course will cover grammar, mechanics of writing, and morphemes. Analytical Grammar will be our text to learn parts of speech, sentence patterns, and diagramming. Jr. AG: Mechanics will cover capitalization and punctuation. We will also learn roots, prefixes, and suffixes Word Roots.
Requirements:
This class will meet twice a week, and homework will be assigned each class period to be due the following class period. Tests and quizzes will be administered throughout the year.
Prerequisites:
Fifth grade or higher reading level.
Grades:
Students will be graded on quizzes, homework, and tests.
Level of Parental Involvement
Elementary:
2 hours independently per day, 3 hours working with a parent per day

Provided (Junior Analytical Grammar Student Workbook and Junior Analytical Grammar: Mechanics Student Workbook and Word Roots)

- Thin dry erase markers
- Red pen

Parent Role:
Grade your child’s Analytical Grammar homework with him using the provided answer key. You must commit to sit with your child at the completion of each Analytical Grammar exercise and listen to your child dictate the answers. When an item is incorrect, you must correct and discuss the item. Plan approximately 20 minutes per exercise.
Monitor your child’s homework.
