Description:
This 5th grade course will introduce students to Texas History through Texas History in Light of the Cross Curriculum. It is designed to cover the history, geography and government of our great state as well as supplementary readings provided in the classroom: Texas Almanac, Discover Texas, plus various websites and activities. As Christians, history is “HIS Story”-an unfolding of God’s plan for man.

Students will be graded on homework, class participation, tests, and projects.
Level of Parental Involvement
Elementary:
2 hours independently per day, 3 hours working with a parent per day
Texts:
Provided (Texas History in Light of the Cross Work Text)
Supplies:
- 3-Ringed Binder 1 1/2”
- 2 Dividers (Homework and Classwork)
- Notebook paper
- Map pencils
- Sharpened pencils

Class Time Outline:
This class will meet twice a week and homework will be assigned each Tuesday and will be due the next Tuesday. Students will be graded on homework, class participation, tests, and projects. Students are expected to participate, stay on task, keep up with assignments through RenWeb. Thursdays involve classwork using the supplementary materials provided by the teacher. I expect 5th grade level work effort and habits!
Parent Role:
Students are expected to keep all handouts/reading materials given to them in their binder.
Students are expected to keep up with Homework Assignments and always do their best work.
Students need access to a computer/printer for Homework Assignments/Communication through Renweb.
Assignments are due on the due date. Late work and Excused Absent Work accepted according to MRA Handbook guidelines.
