Description:
The primary goal of this class is to help your child and develop better communication and leadership skills. This speech class will use the same format as used in Toastmasters International. Students will be assigned various roles that will change from day to day to help facilitate our classes. Some examples of the roles will be Speaker, Evaluator, Timer, Listener, Grammarian and Invocation / Pledge. This class will complement your child’s progression in all their other classes, now and in the future, by improving and giving them more confidence in their communication skills.
Requirements:
Students will be responsible for preparing for the role assigned to them for the upcoming class. They will not have to give a speech every day but they will most likely have some duty to perform every class.

Grades:
50% Attendance
50% Participation – Students will take on daily roles in addition to their mandatory speeches. The number of speeches will be based on the number of students enrolled in the class.
Upon successful completion of this course, a student will receive .5 Speech credit toward graduation.

High School:
5 hours independently per day, 1 hour working with a parent per day
