Description:
In this course, students will complete art projects based on famous artists, fun and unique media (think recycled art) and creating various crafts. We will explore basic art elements such as line, color, shape, texture, space and value. Children will learn how to use a variety of media such as colored pencil, paint, pastels, and collage. The emphasis in this class is for students to gain an appreciation for different styles and techniques of art while having fun learning to express themselves artistically.
Requirements:
We will be having fun, expressing ourselves with various projects as well as looking at art from various artists. Students should be prepared to participate appropriately in classroom discussion as well as have a willingness to help clean up following art projects.
Prerequisites:
Your child should be able to use a pencil and paintbrush.
Grades:
Students will be graded on completion of the art project according to the expected standards.
Level of Parental Involvement
Elementary:
2 hours independently per day, 3 hours working with a parent per day
