Description:
Encouraging physical exercise and equipping students to understand the basics of basketball, this will include rules, regulations, vocabulary, and basic skills. Time during class will be split between a lecture format, learning the foundations of basketball, and being outside putting their new knowledge into practice. Most class time will be very hands on, however, some of the foundational knowledge necessary to improve, must be taught through more of a lecture style.
Requirements:
Students are expected to come to this class ready to learn and participate, dressed appropriately with athletic clothes and closed-toed shoes every day (dress code enforced). Students are expected to have a good attitude, encouraging others, a good work ethic, and receptive to instruction.

Upon successful completion of this course a 9th – 12th grade student will earn 0.5 Fitness credit toward graduation.
Level of Parental Involvement
High School:
5 hours independently per day, 1 hour working with a parent per day

If students will be out, they are expected to inform the instructor and complete any course work as outlined on the syllabus.
Extensions may be granted in advance or due to extreme extenuating circumstances. Exceptions will be made at the instructor’s discretion.
