Elementary Fitness

Elementary Fitness – Matthew Road Academy
Instructor:

Jennifer Sands

Description:

Course Description: Fitness is designed to provide an opportunity for students to engage in vigorous, physical activity; gain a basic knowledge of various sports; and develop a rudimentary understanding of body systems as they relate to fitness.  Students of all fitness levels will be challenged and those who apply themselves will increase in strength, flexibility, and endurance.  Students will survey popular sports like soccer, football, and baseball; play many different playground games; and develop their own new team sports.

Requirements:

Willingness to try new activities, work with other students, and display a positive attitude will result in student success.
Parent Role: Students will only have one homework assignment per semester, so parents have very little to monitor.  Students are encouraged to develop a lifestyle of fitness and will be more likely to do so if parents are willing to engage in regular, physical activity with their children.  Should a student have or develop a physical limitation that hinders their ability to participate in any fitness activity, parents are responsible to communicate that to the instructor.
