Intermediate Literature
Instructor:
Melissa Bryant
Description:
In this Literature Course, students will read various books from different genres. Students will read the books at home, and then participate in class discussions. This class meets once a week. These in class discussions will focus on the writer’s and characters’ point of view, descriptive narration, and topics which occur in the reading. We will also spend time working on reading comprehension and internal analysis of the book. We will be using scripture to discuss the deeper issues raised by the plots and characters.
Requirements:
Students are expected to read the assigned reading selection prior to each class period. Each week students will be assessed on the reading assignment. Each student is also expected to participate in class discussions over the current book. Finally, students will create an end of semester project, which will display either the themes they learned throughout the semester’s reading or a particular idea that was sparked by the reading.
Prerequisites:
Students will need to read and write on grade level. Students are expected to come to class prepared to discuss the books with their classmates and teacher in a respectful manner.
