Physical Science

Physical Science – Matthew Road Academy
Instructor:

Nina Wilhite

Description:

This course discusses such topics as atomic structure, periodic table, chemical bonds, reactions and energy, motion, forces, energy, waves and sound, light, electricity and magnetism, and Earth’s structure, weather and atmosphere. We will complete many hands-on experiments as we explore God’s creation. It is an excellent course for preparing the student to take a college-prep high school science curriculum.

Requirements:

Our class time will consist of both lecture and science labs, which enriches the learning experience by supporting the concepts studied. Students will be maintaining a binder/folder with all returned tests and important handouts. In addition, students will be keeping the student notebook that accompanies the textbook. Homework assignments will come from the textbook; these will consist of study guide questions that will cement concepts presented, along with review questions and practice problems to determine knowledge of the material as well as help in preparing for the test. Tests will be taken approximately every two weeks. The amount of time required from week to week will vary based on the ability and age of the student. However, expect 45 – 60 minutes a day on average outside of class time.
