Description:

This course involves a one year study to prepare for high school Algebra. All middle school concepts are taught, as well as introduction to basic equations, integers, radicals, exponents, fractions review, and intro polynomials.

Requirements:

First, students are required to write down all homework assignments in a journal. Assignments will be written on the board at the end of class. It is their responsibility to write them down as we are training them for college. Second, all homework must be neat, legible, written in pencil and all work must be shown. Third, students are graded on 12 quizzes, any additional quizzes given will result in the lowest quiz score being dropped. Quizzes will be given once a week. Fourth, tests are taken at home following MRA take home test policy. No help may be given on tests. Finally, it is the student’s responsibility to contact me if they miss a class to receive any homework that is not already on the family portal. If I am not contacted a zero will be awarded for that work.

Prerequisites:

Your child must have taken the previous math class with a passing grade of 70% minimum or meet expectations on MRA’s math entrance assessment in order to register for this class.

Grades:

Quizzes – 40% – 10 Quizzes

Test – 20% – 3 Tests

Final Semester Test – 30%

Homework – 10% Completion grade work, must be shown.

(No late work will be accepted) 

Highly recommended that students retake the class if they receive less than a 70.

Middle School:
3 hours independently per day, 2 hours working with a parent per day
